The University of Louisville has dismissed point guard Chris Jones from the men's basketball team, senior associate athletic director Kenny Klein announced on Sunday afternoon.

The team announced on Tuesday that Jones had been suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules. As a result, Jones missed Lousiville's loss to Syracuse on the road on Wednesday.

While coach Rick Pitino said on Tuesday that Jones could miss multiple games, the coach said on Thursday that the point guard had met conditions for reinstatement. Jones then appeared in the team's home win against Miami (FL), scoring 17 points with five rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes.

Mid-afternoon on Sunday, however, Klein reported that Jones had been dismissed from the team.

Jones, a senior, was averaging a team-best 3.7 assists per game, and 13.6 points, the third best on the team. The No. 12 Cardinals are 21-6 overall and 9-5 in the ACC.
