Arkansas Loses Another Guard To Transfer Portal
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas sophomore guard Keyon Menifield has entered the transfer portal, per Joe Tipton of On3 sports. The player Musselman made his wife stay up late to watch won't return as a Razorback next season.
The Flint, Michigan native transferred to Arkansas after one season at Washington. Due to prior academic issues, Menifield took a roster spot as a walk-on with the opportunity to be placed on scholarship next season.
Menifield averaged eight points, two rebounds and two assists per game for the Razorbacks after sitting for the first nine games of the regular season. He scored a career-high 32 points against UNC-Wilmington in his third appearance as a Razorback. Following that game, he would score in double figures three other times in SEC play.
During his 14 games at Arkansas, he shot 38% from the field, 32% from three and 74% at the free throw line. While a Huskie, Menifield was named to the PAC-12 All-Freshman team after averaging 10 points, three rebounds and three assists per game.
At Washington, the 6-1, 150 pounder played an electric type of basketball which spaced the floor out due to his speed, shiftiness and quick first step. With Arkansas' inablility to score the basketball at times from three, opposing defenses packed zones to dare the Razorbacks to drive the basket.
With Menifield's transfer report, Arkansas has now lost three players to the transfer portal. Morrilton sophomore guard Joseph Pinion and sixth-year senior forward Denijay Harris announced their future plans Friday afternoon.
