The Pac-12 conference named Colorado’s Jaylyn Sherrod as the Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, per an announcement on Monday.

The Buffs guard who has landed on national Player of the Year watch lists continues to shine on and off the court. Sherrod first received her undergraduate degree in Sociology before earning a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. She is now pursuing an additional Masters in Criminal Justice. Not to mention, a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient.

Sherrod is averaging 12.8 points and a team-best 4.7 assists per game this season. She currently ranks third all-time in Buffs history with 609 assists.

She becomes Colorado’s tenth Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and first recipient for women’s basketball. Additionally, she earned All-Pac-12 and All-Pac-12 defense honors. It was the 18th time she was recognized by the conference her career.

The Buffs return to action on Wednesday in their opening round Pac-12 Tournament matchup vs. 12th-seeded Oregon. JR Payne's team swept the regular season series against the Ducks with double-digit wins in each contest. The winner will advance to play Oregon State. Colorado lost both regular season contests against the Beavers.

This is likely a must win game if CU hopes to secure a top four seed and host the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
