CB Major Preston Jr. Locks in Official Visit to Florida

IMG Academy cornerback prospect Major Preston Jr. told All Gators he plans to officially visit the University of Florida this summer.

Florida defensive backs coach Will Harris has hit the ground running since he arrived in Gainesville in December, retooling the secondary heading into a crucial 2024 campaign for Billy Napier’s tenure.

Taking on the burden of luring in several transfer prospects upon his appointment as Corey Raymond’s replacement in charge of the Gators secondary, Harris made impressive strides to reel in cornerback Jameer Grimsley (Alabama) as well as safeties Trikweze Bridges (Oregon), DJ Douglas (Tulane) and Asa Turner (Washington).

But his pursuit of talent hasn’t stopped there. It’s carried into the 2025 recruiting class.

IMG Academy cornerback Major Preston Jr. has emerged as a potential candidate for UF in the early stages of the cycle. He will officially visit the University of Florida this summer, locking in a multi-day stay for June 7-9, he confirmed to All Gators on Sunday.

In his first year with IMG Academy in 2023, moving from Hopewell (Va.) High, Preston emerged as a viable candidate for several Power Five programs, sporting impressive traits like height, length and fluid footwork to flash immense potential for his move to the next level.

Florida joined the fold on Dec. 26, 2023, sending a scholarship offer his way soon after Harris' assumption of secondary coaching duties.

Preston, at 6-foot-1, 183 pounds, fits the mold of talent Gators have become accustomed to targeting when scouting the market for defensive backs. He split time at cornerback and safety with the Ascenders as a junior, but projects to slot in as a boundary corner collegiately.

He doesn’t hold a rating per 247 Sports Composite, but is considered a newly-minted four-star prospect by Rivals.

Nonetheless, the Florida staff views Preston highly entering a busy spring of visits and practices for the Gators. He will be an under-the-radar name to monitor as the 2025 cycle ramps up.

Preston is also slated to visit his home state school in Virginia Tech on June 21.
