Elite Gators Safety Target Hylton Stubbs Sets Official Visit to Florida

Mandarin High School safety Hylton Stubbs will officially visit the University of Florida this summer.

One of the Gators’ top targets in the 2025 class regardless of position announced he will officially trek to Gainesville this summer.

Mandarin (Jacksonville, Fla.) High safety Hylton ‘Drake’ Stubbs is scheduled to officially visit the University of Florida June 7-9, he shared with On3 Sports on Friday.

Trips to USC (May 30-June 1), Florida State (June 14-16) and Miami (June 21-23) are also on his agenda as he inches closer to a commitment decision.

Stubbs shined as one of the most productive ball-hawking secondary defenders in the country for the 2025 cycle as a junior, displaying impressive length, speed and range in the backend of the Mustangs’ secondary. He accounted for six pass breakups, six interceptions, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles on the year.

Gators defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong and newly minted secondary coach Will Harris have taken notice to tag-team his recruitment.

The duo of Florida assistants currently vie to stack talent in the defensive backs room following Harris’ assumption of the position this offseason. They view Stubbs as the top prospect on the safety board at this stage.

The Gators have pursued Stubbs heavily dating back to his Jan. 21, 2023, offer, hosting him on campus seven times to date. They expect to be a major contender in the Duval County standout’s recruitment process until the end, as a result.

Stubbs is regarded as the No. 4 safety and No. 49 overall player in the 2025 class, per 247 Sports Composite rankings.

His timeline for a pledge is currently unknown. However, optimism within the UF program regarding his eventual alignment with the Gators. Stubbs himself has even noted Florida to lead his recruitment earlier this year.

His multi-day stay in June will likely play a large role in securing his talents.
