Top 100 WR Recruit Names Florida Gators to Top 8

Lovejoy High School (Lucas, Texas) wideout Daylan McCutcheon released his top eight schools on Saturday afternoon, naming the Gators among the mix.

The Gators inched closer to securing one of the nation's top pass catchers on Saturday.

Highly touted wide receiver prospect Daylan McCutcheon announced he is moving forward with eight schools in contention for his services: Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, SMU, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas and USC.

The Lovejoy High School (Lucas, Texas) standout ranks as the nation's No. 11 WR and No. 87 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Twenty-five of his 32 total offers came in before his junior season kicked off. Producing at an uber-productive clip in 2023, McCutehon affirmed his standing as a top-tier wide receiver target on the radar of several powerhouse programs across the country.

Accounting for 94 receptions, 1,430 yards, 20 touchdowns and two kickoff return touchdowns, he flashed long speed, elusiveness in tight quarters, sticky hands, suddenness out of the break as a route runner and overarching playmaking abilities to crack the top 100 in 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

Sporting a 6-foot, 175-pound frame with above-average limb length, McCutcheon has the potential and versatility to fulfill a multitude of roles within his collegiate offense.

Head coach Billy Napier, wideouts assistant Billy Gonzales and Co. aim to lure him into orange and blue, where he would likely occupy time outside with occasional movement inside to the slot based on matchups.

McCutcheon will trek to five of the top eight schools this spring, locking in unofficial visits to Austin (March 22), Columbus (March 31), Los Angeles (April 5), Tallahassee (April 12) and Palo Alto (April 18) on Thursday.

The Gators will expectedly follow suit in attempting to win over the talented pass-catching prospect with a return visit in the near future. He's appeared on campus at the University of Florida twice before, most recently traveling from the Lone Star State to Gainesville in July 2023.

Florida currently holds one commitment at the wide receiver position in the 2025 class in the form of Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) prospect Josiah Abdullah.
