Former Indiana Pitcher Craig Yoho Selected by Milwaukee in 8th Round of 2023 MLB Draft

Indiana right-handed pitcher Craig Yoho became the first Hoosier off the board on Monday, when he was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers with the No. 242 overall pick in the eighth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

Craig Yoho is the first Indiana Hoosier selected in the 2023 MLB Draft.

The Milwaukee Brewers took Yoho in the eighth round with the No. 242 overall pick on Monday. The 23-year-old right-handed pitcher and stands at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds.

Yoho played one season at Indiana, helping the Hoosiers reach the NCAA Tournament Lexington Regional Championship game against Kentucky. In his lone NCAA Tournament appearance, Yoho pitched 2.1 innings, struck out four batters and allowed one earned run as Indiana defeated Kentucky 5-3.

During Yoho's 2023 campaign with the Hoosiers, he posted a 3.41 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP across 37 innings. Yoho made 18 relief appearances and became best known for his swing-and-miss stuff. Despite pitching the fifth-most innings on the team, he was second among Hoosiers with 63 strikeouts. Yoho's repertoire includes wipeout slider and a fastball that cuts in on right-handed hitters. 

Following the 2023 season, Yoho entered the transfer portal and committed to Arkansas. Now he has a choice on his hands. Yoho can either sign with the Milwaukee Brewers, or return to school and hope to improve is draft stock at Arkansas. Yoho's approximate pick value is $196,700, per MLB.com.

Yoho began his collegiate career at Houston, where he appeared in eight games as a freshman in 2019 and one game as a sophomore in 2020. He missed the entire 2021 and 2022 seasons due to Tommy John surgery and a knee injury. 

Yoho played at Fishers High School in Fishers, Ind., where he was named first-team all-state as a senior.
