Missouri Falls Short Once Again, Loses to Texas A&M in Blowout

The Tigers losing streak in conference play continues after a 19-point loss to the Texas A&M Aggies.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Although Missouri men’s basketball looked close to finally breaking its winless streak in the Southeastern Conference, Wednesday night resulted the same as its last ninth games. A loss.

The losses continue to get more and more demoralizing for the Tigers, this time with a 79-60 score. They got it within three points with 12:56 left in the second half, but quickly fell apart in the proceeding three minutes, falling back down to a 11-point differential.

It was a rough night for Missouri as a whole, but a bright spot came from one of Nick Honor’s best performances of the entire season. He recorded 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including a pair of deep triples that came in important stretches of the game. Tamar Bates had 20 points of his own on 6-of-13 shooting, but it was one of the weaker nights of his brilliant stretch in SEC.

The disparities in statistics are very apparent in the rebounding category, where the Tigers lost the battle 40-to-22, including a 16-to-5 offensive rebound differential. They also had 12 turnovers compared to the Aggies' seven, which created 24 points off turnovers for Texas A&M.

The chances for Missouri to break the losing streak are getting slimmer and slimmer, especially with a difficult final stretch ahead. Next, it will remain at home to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs (15-8) on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
