Illinois vs. Purdue Prediction for Today's College Basketball Game on FS1
Illinois star wing Terrence Shannon Jr. was playing as well as anyone in the country as a dynamic scorer and veteran leader. Now, because of horrid off-court accusations, he is suspended indefinitely. It was going to be tough winning in West Lafayette with him, but now it’s a bit more than an uphill battle. Still, all Illinois has done in the two games in his absence is win by 30+ points.
Illinois already flexed road toughness losing by seven at Tennessee, an elite squad, and winning by 18 at a hostile Rutgers environment. Purdue is a different animal as the nation’s top team, however, especially going up against Zach Edey and a much-improved supporting cast.
Illinois is undersized in the frontcourt, but their athleticism and interchangeable depth allow them to switch up defenses and offensive looks on the fly, and they are excellent at limiting two-point success inside. We believe Purdue will comfortably win this game, but not after Illinois puts up a fight for 35 minutes.

Without Shannon and a plan against Domask, Illinois might not have enough offense on the road to keep this close in the end.
