Utah Baseball's 7-Game Win Streak Leads to Best Start Since 1980

With the Tony Gwynn Legacy event in the books, the Utes emerge with a 7-1 record, leading to the program's best start to a season since 1980.

After losing to Pepperdine in the first game of the year 0-1, Utah has gone on a whopping 7-game win streak, outscoring their opponents 55 to 28, while also adding two extra-innings thrillers to the already impressive resume.

Up to this point in the campaign, the Utes have held every opponent to 5 runs or less, while putting up 6 runs or more in six of the eight games played so far, putting their offensive prowess and pitching consistency on full display.

As a team. the Utes are sporting a .242 batting average and a .757 OPS with 67 hits and 55 runs in 277 at-bats, including 8 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .356 OB%.

On the mound, Utah rocks a 3.24 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and an allowed batting average of .210 in 75 innings pitched. In 271 batters faced, Utah's pitchers have given up 57 hits, 5 homers, and 25 walks, but have struck out 58 batters in the process.

The Utes will be staying in California for their next series as they will face Cal Poly in a three-game slate from March 1-3 in San Luis Obispo. With a four-day break in between play, the team will look to keep their momentum alive and continue the potentially history-making run they've been on.
