Utah Completes Incredible Comeback Against No. 3 Oregon State

Utah baseball welcomed the #3 ranked Oregon State Beavers to Smith's Park in their first home series and second Pac-12 slate of the season. The Beavs, led by potential #1 overall pick Travis Bazzana, came into the series with a whopping 16-1 record, only losing to Arkansas on February 23rd while the Utes came in with an 11-5 record.

The Utes dropped the first two games of the three-game slate, losing 5-7 and 1-8, and prospects were looking bleak in game three as well. Through three innings, the Beavers were up 9-0, but Utah began to rally in the fourth inning racking up six runs, moving the scoreline to 9-6.

Oregon State extended their lead by a run in the top of the fifth after a SAC FLY but the Utes answered back in the bottom of the 5th with two runs of their own, shifting the scoreline to 10-8.

In the 6th, Utah drove in a run bringing the gap within a run, and in the seventh added five more runs, taking the lead 10-14 and completing the comeback. The Beavs put one more run on the board in the eighth inning after a ball to right center went yard but it wasn't enough as the Utes came away with the win 11-14.

Despite losing the series, this win is a monumental feat for the unranked Utes and proves that they can hang with the big boys, especially in the face of adversity.

Next up for the 12-6 Utes is a two-game home slate against Northern Colorado before they head back to California for a three-game Pac-12 series against Cal.
