Eli the Orangutan, an ape who lived at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City and correctly predicted the winner of each of the last seven Super Bowls has died.

The 24-year old ape predicted the winner of the NFL finale by smashing paper mache helmets and footballs placed in his living habitat.

Eli was beloved by both handicappers and zoo visitors, where zookeeper Bobbi Gordon told Time he was a consummate entertainer.

“Eli was the class clown, a total ham. He aimed to entertain and please. He played gently with [his son] Acara and was very interactive with the public. He enjoyed doing silly things to make guests or keepers squeal, laugh and scream,”
