Texas high school girl's basketball team gets beat 98-0

It's not unusual for high school sports to feature some pretty lopsided matchups, but it doesn't get any worse than what Mathis did to Kingsville.

Mathis won 98-0. In a basketball game.

Shutouts happen all the time in football, soccer, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, field hockey and just about any other sport you can think of, but they almost never happen in basketball.

"When I first heard about this last night, I refused to put it on the air because I refused to believe it," Alan Harwell, the sports anchor for KRIS in nearby Corpus Christi said.

It's 100 percent real, though, and the box score published in the Corpus Christi Caller is ridiculous.

Harwell said Larry Skinner, the coach of the winning team, told him his starters only played 11 minutes.

On the bright side, Kingsville only lost 37-14 in the JV game.
