Seahawks' Michael Bennett: Panthers are a cousin you want to date

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is not afraid to say things you would not expect to hear from an NFL player, like when he said Eagles' Mark Sanchez was "trying to impersonate a good quarterback."

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is not afraid to say things you would not expect to hear from an NFL player, like when he said Mark Sanchez of the Eagles was "trying to impersonate a good quarterback." He may wish he could take back his latest interview though.

The Everett Herald asked Bennett about the similarities between Seattle and its divisional round opponent, the Carolina Panthers, and he somehow ended up talking about wanting to date a cousin because she looked like him.

“It’s so much alike, man. It’s like you look at a girl who looks like you, and you find out it’s your cousin, so you can’t go on a date with her even though you’d like to, because she looks like you. But then you see her friend, and her friend’s really hot, and you’re like, ‘that’s not my cousin,’ so it’s good.”

It would take years of unpacking those two sentences to figure out what Bennett is talking about. Are the Panthers the cousin or the hot friend? Could they be both?

All one can really take away from this interview is that the Seahawks and Panthers are similar teams, and Bennett family gatherings are going to be a little uncomfortable from here on out.
