Grounds crew paints ‘Broncos’ in wrong end zone at Super Bowl site

Super Bowl festivities are off to in auspicious start as the grounds crew at Levi’s Stadium got confused on which end zone to paint for the Broncos, leading to both having the team’s name and logo for a brief time.

Super Bowl festivities are off to an inauspicious start as the grounds crew at Levi’s Stadium got confused on which end zone to paint for the Broncos, leading to both having the team’s name and logo for a brief time.

The Santa Clara stadium looked like a home game for Denver as the mistake was quickly covered up, but the faint outline of the steed’s head and block letter “BRONCOS” remained visible earlier in the week as the opposite end zone was being painted its proper orange and navy blue colorway.

• A history of dumb Super Bowl bye week storylines

With the big game not taking place until next Sunday there is plenty of time to rectify this mistake before the Panthers and Broncos hit the field, but you can be sure some Carolina players and fans will take this as proof that no one respects the Super Bowl favorites.
