The Orioles Double A affiliate Bowie Baysox may not pronounce the name of their hometown the same way as David Bowie pronounced his last name, but that is not stopping the team from celebrating the life of the legendary rock star, who died this year at 69.
On Friday night, the team will celebrate the life of the “TVC15” singer as it takes on the Erie SeaWolves by playing Bowie’s music throughout the game and during a special postgame fireworks show. But most importantly, the team will wear jerseys inspired by the glam rock star's always-outrageous style.
The front of the jersey is inspired by a striped bodysuit designed by Kansai Yamamoto, which the British musician wore while touring behind his classic album Aladdin Sane. The back of the jersey seems to draw inspiration from a coat designed for Bowie by Alexander McQueen and seen on the cover of his Earthling album.
Those looking to get their hands on the glammed out jerseys can purchase them via auction after the game, with the proceeds going towards the Feeding America charity.
