Seth Rollins criticizes fans in Brooklyn for jeering new title belt during match
After losing to Finn Balor at SummerSlam in Brooklyn, Seth Rollins criticized fans on Twitter for voicing their displeasure over WWE’s new title belt as the match took place.
The two were fighting for the brand new WWE Universal Championship, which was created after a brand split handed the WWE Championship to SmackDown and left Raw without a top belt. Before the match, the actual belt was revealed, and fans did not like it.
Its appearance was essentially the same as the WWE Championship, except it was red.
As soon as fans got a look at it, they began to boo. That spilled into the match between Rollins and Balor; fans continually chanted in unison about the belt while the two superstars went at it.
Rollins was upset afterward.
“More important than a title’s appearance is what it represents for the men fighting over it,” Rollins wrote. “You really let me down tonight, Brooklyn.”
Rollins and Balor will be in Brooklyn on Monday night for Raw.
