We all know the real reason the Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908 (or even gotten to one since 1945) is that Billy Sianis and his goat Murphy were kicked out of Game 4 of the 1945 World Series at Wrigley.

Giants fans, no stranger to supernatural forces, decided to invoke the Curse of the Billy Goat on Tuesday night in hopes of forcing a Game 5 in Chicago on Thursday.

Before the game, Rodnel Magat brought his goat Spock to AT&T Park. Spock’s usual job is landscaping, but he was playing the role of talisman that night.

In the seventh inning, when things were looking pretty good for the Giants, Fox’s cameras picked up another goat in the stands.

And then the Giants gave up four runs in the ninth inning and lost the game.

This year’s Cubs team might be too good for curses.
