New Odyssey Ai-ONE Putter Goes All-In on Artificial Intelligence, and Results are Stunning
AI is in the golf game once again.
Callaway’s R&D department set out on mission to help players reduce three-putts on the golf course. (A mission I wholeheartedly support.) They found the No. 1 factor that affects three-putting percentages was ball speed.
And the main variable in ball speed involves off-center hits on the putter face.
So Callaway tapped into the powers of AI to create a putter face that stays more consistent with ball speed, even when you miss the center of the face.

And they ended up creating the Ai-ONE.
They put it up head-to-head with a popular putter on the market, and to keep things fair, they used robot-testing with a 15-point face map on off-center putts at a distance of 32 feet.
The Ai-ONE was on average 21% closer to the hole.
That’s a lot. This putter seems impressive.
What do you think AI should fix next in golf?
