Report: Rangers catcher Geovany Soto arrested on marijuana charge

Texas Rangers catcher Geovany Soto was arrested Wednesday night on a marijuana possession charge, according to a report from dallasnews.com. He was pulled over for speeding around 10 p.m. and was then charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana under two ounces. 

Soto is free on $500 bail. Marijuana is listed as a drug of abuse in MLB's Joint Drug Agreement. Per the JDA, Soto will be referred to the Treatment Board for an initial evaluation as to whether he should be placed in a treatment program.

The one-time All-Star and 2008 Rookie of the Year is batting .245 with a .466 slugging percentage and nine home runs for the Rangers in 184 plate appearances.
