Miami Marlins
Record: 44-50
Standing: 4th in NL East
Team Leaders:
Batting Average: Casey McGehee, .319
Home Runs: Giancarlo Stanton, 21
ERA: Henderson Alvarez, 2.63
The Marlins suffered a setback when young ace and 2013 NL Rookie of the Year Jose Fernandez had to undergo Tommy John surgery in May, but fellow young arm Henderson Alvarez emerged into an All-Star. Rookie pitcher Andrew Heaney didn't perform well in a recent call-up but could be brought up again before the end of the season.
Offseason acquisition Casey McGehee has provided quality run production in support of slugger Giancarlo Stanton. While trade rumors always seem to surround Stanton, it appears the Marlins will hold on to him for now.
