The Atlanta Braves have released second baseman Dan Uggla, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com first reported Atlanta's decision to cut ties with Uggla.

Uggla was batting .162 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 48 games for the Braves this season. The 34-year-old has more than $5 million left on his contract this season, and is owed $13 million in 2015.

Uggla was suspended by manager Fredi Gonzalez for last Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
