The New York Yankees have acquired outfielder Dustin Ackley in a trade with the Seattle Mariners for outfielder Ramon Flores and reliever Jose Ramirez, the team announced Thursday.

YES Network's Jack Curry first reported the trade.

Ackley, 27, is hitting .215 with six home runs and 19 RBIs, and playing primarily in the outfield for Seattle. He can also play second base, but has only appeared there once this year. Yankees starting second baseman Stephen Drew has hit .192 with 13 home runs.

Despite being drafted second overall out of North Carolina in 2009, Ackley has largely been unable to live up to his first-round status. In five major league seasons, he's has hit .243 with a .672 OPS.

Flores, a 23-year-old Triple A outfielder, hit .219 in 12 games with the Yankees this season. Ramirez, 25 and also in Triple A, holds a 7.62 career ERA in 11 appearances over the last two seasons.
