Oakland A's minor leaguer Mike Nolan shot in drive-by
Oakland Athletics minor leaguer Mike Nolan is in serious condition after being shot in a drive-by shooting in Yonkers, N.Y., according to police.
Police told NBC New York that Nolan, 23, was shot in the head and torso early Friday in the parking lot of a local Burger King. He was standing outside his car with other people when the shooter, who is still at large, drove up on a service road and opened fire, shooting five or six times. Police say he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The Yonkers police department said they believe Nolan was an innocent victim, and that he and the shooter may have been involved in an earlier dispute.
Nolan was selected by the A's in the 18th round of the 2014 draft. He was listed on the roster for the rookie ball Arizona League Athletics this season but has been on the restricted list and has not played for them.
