George Brett to throw out the first pitch before World Series Game 1
Hall of Famer George Brett will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game 1 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets.
Brett hit .375 in the 1980 World Series for the Royals before the team lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in six games. Five years later, Brett won his only World Series by hitting .370 in the 1985 World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals, including a four-hit performance with four runs scored, two home runs and three RBIs in Game 7.
The Royals have not won a World Series in 30 years. Brett now serves as a vice president in the Royals front office.
Last year, the Royals reached the World Series before losing to the San Francisco Giants in seven games. Brett threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 2.
