Andrew Miller, Mark Melancon named AL, NL Relievers of the Year
Closers Andrew Miller of the New York Yankees and Mark Melancon of the Pittsburgh Pirates have been named the American and National League Relievers of the Year.
Closers Andrew Miller of the New York Yankees and Mark Melancon of the Pittsburgh Pirates have been named the American and National League Relievers of the Year, respectively.
MLB announced the news Wednesday night. The relievers were presented their awards by Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman, the former Yankees and Padres closers and namesakes for the AL and NL awards, respectively.
Miller, 30, posted a 2.04 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 100 strikeouts and converting 36 of 38 save chances in 61 2/3 innings.
Melancon, also 30, recorded 51 saves in 53 chances with a 2.23 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings for the Pirates.
