MLB could hold games in London as early as 2017, reports Ben Rumsby of the Telegraph.

Operators of Olympic Stadium are reportedly in advanced talks to host the first Major League Baseball game in Europe. MLB officials have shown interest in the former main venue of the London Olympics for a few years, Rumsby reports.

“That stadium, the way it’s built, actually is big enough for a baseball game,” MLB International’s Clive Russell said in 2012. “It’s not perfect, but it has some real potential.”

Olympic Stadium is set to become full-time host to West Ham United of the Premier League beginning in Summer 2016, and after renovations are done can seat 54,000 people. The French firm Vinci handles the venue’s event planning when West Ham is not playing.

MLB has hosted games in Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Australia in recent years.
