White Sox acquire Todd Frazier from Reds in three-team deal
The Cincinnati Reds have traded third baseman Todd Frazier to the Chicago White Sox in a three-team deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the teams announced on Wednesday.
In the deal, White Sox pitching prospect Frankie Montas, along with infielder Micah Johnson and outfielder Trayce Thompson will go to the Dodgers. In exchange, Los Angeles will send infielder Jose Peraza, its No. 4 prospect, to the Reds along with outfielder Scott Schebler and second baseman Brandon Dixon.
Frazier, 29, hit .255 with a career-high 35 home runs and 89 RBIs last season in 157 games in Cincinnati. He earned a spot on the National League All-Star team for a second consecutive year, and won the 2015 Home Run Derby.

Frazier tweeted a message to fans after the trade.
Montas, 22, is the White Sox’ No. 3 prospect, according to MLB.com. He debuted in MLB last season, allowing eight runs and striking out 20 hitters in 15 innings.
Chicago plans to move newly-acquired third baseman Brett Lawrie to second base to accommodate Frazier, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman also notes that Peraza was involved in the Dodgers’ deal with the Reds for closer Aroldis Chapman.
