Miami Marlins rightfielder Giancarlo Stanton hit four home runs in four consecutive at bats against the the New York Mets over Tuesday and Wednesday, tying the MLB record for consecutive homers by a player.
Stanton had two home runs in the Marlins’ win against the Mets on Tuesday. He brought his total number of career home runs to 200 with his second home run of Wednesday.
Stanton also became the first player to have back-to-back games with multiple home runs at Citi Field.
His four home runs on Tuesday and Wednesday combined to soar an impressive 1,735 feet.
Despite Stanton’s performance, the Mets defeated the Marlins 4–2. Miami will take on the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game series beginning on Friday.
The Marlins sit 6 games back of the first–place Nationals in the NL East, while the Mets are 3.5 games back of Washington with a 46–38 record.
