Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested on a domestic violence charge this week, according to court documents obtained by The Bergen Record.
In a statement to The Record, the team said it was aware of the situation.
Familia, 27, was charged with simple assault in an incident in Fort Lee, N.J. on Monday, according to the complaint. He is identified as Jeurys F. Mojica.
The righthander was featured in an anti-domestic violence ad this season.
He was selected to the All-Star Game this summer.
