StubHub: About 60% of World Series Game 7 tickets bought from Chicago market
As much as 60% of ticket purchases on StubHub for tonight's World Series Game 7 have been purchased from the greater Chicago market, according to a spokesman from StubHub.
“Game 7 is the ultimate bucket list experience for Cubs fans,” spokesman Cameron Papp said in a statement. “We are seeing an unprecedented amount of purchases from the greater Chicago market. As much as 60% of transactions for tonight’s game are from traveling Cubs fans.”
The median price for a Game 7 ticket is $1,823. The cheapest ticket, as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, is $975.
The result of tonight's game will end a long drought for either team as the Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908. The Indians have not won a championship since 1948.
• History, title in the balance in Game 7 that will be unlike any ever played
Some previously estimated that it may have been cheaper for Cubs fans to pay for travel, lodging and a ticket in Cleveland than attend a game at Wrigley Field.
