San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey has opted out of the 2020 MLB season in order to take care of his family. Only twelve players out of the 1800 that are included in the sum total of 60-man player pools for each team, the reasons for opting out, as SI's Tom Verducci says, are varied and unique. But as Verducci points out there is something in common for these players, security in the league.
