The light-heavyweight fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier originally slated to take place at UFC 178 in September has been postponed, the UFC announced Tuesday.

Jones suffered a leg injury in training and his fight with Cormier has been rescheduled for Jan. 3.

MMAFighting.com reports that Jones "suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and a sprained ankle during a wrestling practice on Monday."

Jones and Cormier brawled at a media event promoting the fight last week, and continued trading barbs on social media.

The pair were then caught exchanging obscenity-laden smack talk before an ESPN interview.

UFC 178 was originally scheduled to feature a rematch between Jones and.Alexander Gustafsson, but the Swede suffered a torn meniscus during training in July.

The main event for UFC 178 will now be a flyweight championship fight between Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso.
