Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard says that forward Chris Bosh has been playing the past few weeks with a rib injury.

Bosh said during the All-Star weekend that he is “hurt, not injured,” and can continue to play.

Bosh and the Heat don’t return to action until Friday when they take on the New York Knicks.

“Your body will follow your mind, and sometimes it’s good to get away,” Bosh said to the Miami Herald. “You have to give credit to the commissioner and the players for coming together and actually making it a longer break, but sometimes you just have to reset."

NBA trade deadline rumors and buzz

Bosh is averaging 21.2 points, seven rebounds and 2.2 assists in 44 games this season. He missed eight games earlier this season with a calf injury.

The Heat (22-30) are eighth in the Eastern Conference with 30 games remaining in the regular season.

“Just moving forward, we have to make sure we keep in mind that we are in a good position,” Bosh said. “We can’t get down on ourselves. A lot of people don’t make the playoffs. So, just being able to have a chance to make it is good.”
