Thunder, Dion Waiters reportedly discussing contract extension
The Oklahoma City Thunder and guard Dion Waiters are currently discussing a contract extension, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
According to Wojnarowski, the 23-year-old is “enthusiastic” about signing a new deal with the Thunder and wants to play on a team that will be a contender.
Waiters is eligible to extend his current deal as a member of the 2012 draft class. The deadline to sign a contract extension is Nov. 2.
If Waiters doesn’t sign an extension by the deadline, he will become a restricted free agent in 2016.
Waiters averaged 12.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 47 games with the Thunder after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers in January.
