Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt is finalizing a deal with Turkish professional team Darussafaka, reports Europe-based basketball reporter David Pick.
According to Pick, Darussafaka’s deal with Blatt will be for close to $2 million per season over an unspecified number of years.
Blatt was relieved of his duties with the Cavs in January, despite having achieved a 30–11 record with the team, which was the best mark in the Eastern Conference at the time. Before his time in Cleveland, Blatt had been a coach overseas since 1993.
He was the Israeli League Coach of the Year four times, while also earning Russian Super League and Euroleague Coach of the Year honors in 2005 and 2014, respectively.
