After having been fired from the team in January, David Blatt has congratulated the Cleveland Cavaliers on winning their first NBA Finals title, according to reporter David Pick.
“My Congratulations,” Blatt said via text. “An enormous accomplishment for the organization, a special and historic moment for Cleveland.”
The Cavs decided to fire Blatt despite his 30–11 record with the team, which was the best mark in the Eastern Conference at the time. Blatt is now coaching the Turkish professional team Darussafaka.
Blatt is eligible to receive a championship ring but the decision is up to management’s discretion.

Tyronn Lue replaced Blatt and finished the season with a 27–14 record. He led the team to a 16–5 record in the playoffs.
