The Utah Jazz’s scouting department is seemingly doing their due diligence considering recent reports surrounding the team’s upcoming workouts. The Jazz have now turned to looking into some of the best names of the class, gauging which direction the team should go with their 9th overall pick.

According to Zach Padmore of Roll Call Sports, the Jazz will be working out both Houston’s Jarace Walker, as well as Central Florida’s Taylor Hendricks. Walker is ranked 7th on ESPNs 2023 Big Board, while Hendricks is listed at 9:

Both players could be very realistic options for the Jazz at 9 if available. Walker could be the powerful, athletic, defensive forward next to Markkanen if he falls in the Jazz's lap. On the other hand, Hendricks could be the perfect 3&D fit to mesh into the current team. Despite the current reputaiton of a sole 3&D player, the development into a bigger role like we’ve seen; similar to various player’s development tracks like Mikal Bridges did is highly possible. If Hendricks has the shot, defense, and build down initially, the rest can be built up with good coaching.

While the Jazz have some competition for some of these players, such as the simultaneously reported Indiana Pacers, we could easily see Danny Ainge clean up one of these prospects if they end up falling. The strategy of selecting the best player available usually proves to be a wise one in the draft, and both of these guys would end up fitting that if on the board at 9.

With only about two weeks to go before the draft officially starts, the clock continues to wind down on the Jazz’s important decision.
