Magic 'Most Likely' to Trade Gary Harris?

The trade deadline is quickly approaching, and it remains to be seen whether or not the Orlando Magic will finally make some noise in the trade market.

The Orlando Magic has been fairly quiet in the trade market the past couple of seasons, but that could all change ahead of this year's trade deadline.

In a recent article by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, he outlines one player on each NBA team that could be dealt before the deadline. And for the Magic, he thinks that Gary Harris is most likely to be traded before Feb. 8.

Orlando Magic guard Gary Harris (14) looks to pass against Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart (28) during the first quarter at Amway Center.

"Harris has a $13 million contract expiring, and the Magic have five tradable first-rounders. They also have Markelle Fultz's $19 million expiring contract as an option to trade if the Magic can find offensive upgrades," Windhorst writes.

Harris has missed the last 14 games for the Magic with a right calf strain. And even though he could return very soon, the 29-year-old guard will most likely be on a minutes restriction. The Magic has had other players mentioned in trade rumors, but Harris seems to be the most likely to be dealt, as he is only averaging seven points per game.

"Wendell Carter would have suitors if Orlando makes him available, but the signs point to Orlando keeping him and his attractive contract: four years, $50 million signed before the 2022-23 season," Windhorst writes.

But before the deadline, the Magic still has a couple more games to worry about, as the team wants to finish the first half of the season strong. It will get its next chance to do that today against the Detroit Pistons. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena.
