San Antonio Spurs Mock Draft: Who Gets Selected with Toronto Raptors Pick?

The San Antonio Spurs own the Toronto Raptors' first-round pick in 2024 and could use it to draft Carlton Carrington, who is rising up the draft boards.

The San Antonio Spurs appear to be lottery-bound after a very disappointing start to Victor Wembanyama’s rookie season. Part of that is due to weird roster decisions, but the majority of the Spurs’ losing is simply from being a young team.

With many draft picks over the next several seasons, the Spurs seem ready to acquire as much young talent as possible and see who works out. The Spurs own the Toronto Raptors’ pick in 2024, protected in the top six. According to a mock draft from Bleacher Report, that pick will be conveyed to the Spurs, who will select Carlton Carrington from the University of Pittsburgh.

The San Antonio Spurs are riding a 13-game losing streak.

In six games with the Panthers, the combo guard has averaged 15.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and is shooting an astounding 43 percent from deep on over six attempts per game.

Oh, and he also recorded a triple-double in his first college game.

If the Spurs select him 10th overall as projected, he would not be guaranteed a starting spot. His sample size is very small, which could mean that his draft stock will fall as the season goes on. Of course, the opposite can be true.

So far, his scoring abilities are apparent. He can create for himself or knock down catch-and-shoot threes. If the Spurs draft him with their second first-round pick and fail to get a guard earlier in the draft, Carrington could be the lead guard come next season.

Of course, it’s early, and his rise came seemingly out of nowhere. That being said, his early rise onto draft radars should mean that he is the real deal, at least to some degree. If the Spurs pick him, there will be some growing pains (he’s only 18) but he could blossom into a really good player.
