Spurs WATCH: Inside Look at Draft Room Before Selection of Victor Wembanyama

"We've had a lot of fun in this draft room. Not sure many will be more fun than tonight," San Antonio Spurs CEO R.C. Buford said right before the team selected Victor Wembanyama.

San Antonio Spurs fans and the rest of the NBA will get their first look rookie star Victor Wembanyama on Friday when he takes the floor at the Thomas & Mack Center for the start of the team's Vegas Summer League slate against the Charlotte Hornets.

The journey for one of the most exciting prospects in years is about to begin. But the NBA recently gave fans a closer look at how it officially started on draft night when the Spurs made the selection that everyone on Earth saw coming.

In a new video, Spurs CEO R.C. Buford is seen addressing members of the front office and staff right before the team called in the selection for Wembanyama at No. 1 overall. In attendance were the likes of coach Gregg Popovich, general manager Brian Wright, assistant coach Brett Brown, former Spur and vice president of basketball operations Brent Berry, and many more.

Take a look:

"It's been an honor to work alongside everybody here and those who aren't here," Buford says in the clip. "We've had a lot of fun in this draft room. Not sure many will be more fun than tonight."

Wright was the one to answer the call from the NBA once the Spurs were on the clock. He tried to hand the phone over to Buford, who laughed it off and insisted that Wright call in the selection instead.

"Victor Wembanyama," Wright says.

Simple enough.

The draft room than erupted in applause once NBA Commissioner Adam Silver officially announced San Antonio's selection on the TV.

The celebration will likely be memorable for everyone involved. But now, the work begins on Friday when Wembanyama makes his Spurs debut.
