After playing through a sports hernia last season, Houston Texans No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is still recovering. However, he is "going to try" to be ready by the start of training camp, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Clowney hasn't yet received clearance from the Texans' medical staff, but said he hopes to be cleared by next Saturday for the start of camp.

The Texans' first practice is July 25.
