Denver Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Ware said his strong play during the first preseason game showed "what they brought me in here for," according to DenverBroncos.com.

Ware, who signed with the Broncos after being cut by the Dallas Cowboys, had a tackle for loss and sack on his first defensive series during Thursday night's 21-16 win against the Seattle Seahawks.

The 32-year-old said he wants to set the tone for the rest of the defense.

“That’s what they brought me in here for, to make big plays and put pressure on the quarterback, and that’s what I love to do,” Ware said. “We can see the spark that we have, the talent that we have on our defense, and how we can play with really great tenacity."

Ware spent nine seasons with Dallas, racking up 117.0 sacks. He said last month he feels healthier than the past two seasons.
