Detroit Lions claim receiver Conner Vernon off waivers
The Detroit Lions claimed former Duke wide receiver Conner Vernon off waivers, the team announced Tuesday.
Vernon went undrafted in 2013, and spent last year's training camp with the Oakland Raiders. Earlier this season, he was in camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Vernon was a four-year starter at Duke, where he caught 283 passes during his college career. He was named to the All-ACC second team three times, and caught 85 passes for 1074 yards and eight touchdowns his senior season.
In their first depth chart, the Lions listed Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Kris Durham, Kevin Ogletree and Ryan Broyles as the team's top five wide receivers.
