Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball has sat out the last two weeks after having an appendectomy, but he is hoping to receive medical clearance to return to the field after a doctor's visit on Monday.

Ball will visit his own doctor seeking clearance, but according to the Denver Post, even if the 23-year-old receives it, Denver's medical team might not allow him to take part in any contact during practice on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Ball could also have to sit out the Broncos' next preseason game on Saturday.

"I'm tired of sitting around," said Ball. "I'm excited to come back and get back to it. It's all about lathering up. You need to get that lather, man. That's important. Get back used to getting tackled, getting hit."

In 2013, Ball ran for 559 yards and four touchdowns, also adding 145 receiving yards on 20 catches. A former second-round draft pick, he's entering his second NFL season.
