Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins will start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

It will be his first game since tearing his right ACL last Halloween. Atkins had six sacks in nine games last season prior to the injury. He led all defensive tackles with 12.5 sacks in 2012 en route to making the All-Pro first-team.

Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said Atkins will play a few series in the game, according ESPN.com.

"Having him back's a huge deal for us," Guenther said. "It's good to see him back. It definitely means a big deal to us. ... I'm sure he's ready to get back and get his confidence up. I'm sure he's anxious to get back in there and play with the guys."

The Bengals play the Indianapolis Colts next Thursday to conclude the preseason before kicking off the regular season on Sept. 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.
