Wright was signed by the Bucs as an undrafted free agent last season. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie with eight starts. He caught 54 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns.
The Patriots have relied heavily on tight ends in the past, using Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez effectively in 2012. The duo combined for 106 catches, 1,273 yards and 16 touchdowns that year. Gronkowski was injured most of last season and hasn't played at all this preseason. Hernandez is out of the league, having been arrested on a murder charge.
