The Chargers said the decision to suspend Bauer was made by broadcaster Clear Channel.

Bauer was calling Sunday's preseason game with longtime on-air partner Josh Lewin when Bauer made a joke implying Lewin is cheap because he is Jewish.
In the team's statement, the Chargers said they "know Hank had no ill-will behind his remarks," but agreed the comments were inappropriate.
