Giants LB Jon Beason 'on track' to play in season opener

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said that starting linebacker Jon Beason is on track to play Monday night against the Detroit Lions but did not reveal specifics, according to Newsday

Beason said last month that he expected to play in the season opener.

The linebacker suffered a ligament tear and small fracture to the sesamoid in his right foot during organized team activities in June and missed the entire preseason.
