Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is "week-to-week" with a sprained ankle and his status for next Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears is in doubt, reports NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Williams injured his ankle in the first half of Carolina's loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and did not return. He had 11 carries for 34 yards before exiting.

The ninth-year pro was making his return to the field after missing the previous two games with a thigh injury. Fellow running back Jonathan Stewart was inactive Sunday after spraining his knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, and fullback Mike Tolbertwas placed on injured reserve/designated for return last week with a fractured knee.

The Panthers also have Darrin Reaves and Tauren Poole available. Reaves had 12 carries for 26 yards against the Ravens, while Poole ran one time for zero yards.

Williams has amassed 6,733 rushing yards and 53 total touchdowns in his career with Carolina.
